What is restaurant inventory software?

Restaurant inventory software deducts what each order uses and takes off sale whatever runs out. Maxilog tracks stock per item, per option or per ingredient through recipes, works out the food cost of every dish and applies sell-outs to all your channels at once.

No more selling what is sold out

A sold-out item or ingredient makes the dish unavailable on the till, kiosk, website and app.

Timed 86

Make an item unavailable for one hour, two hours, until the end of service or until you restore it yourself. It comes back on its own, nothing to remember.

  • One hour, two hours or until the end of service
  • Automatically back on sale when the time is up
  • No forgotten step to turn it back on
  • Low-stock alerts

Items and ingredients that fall below their threshold are flagged.

  • Ingredients and recipes

Describe every dish by its ingredients, including its options and sizes.

  • Food cost and availability

Each dish’s cost is calculated from its ingredients, and a missing ingredient blocks the dishes that use it.

What happens to stock when a pizza is sold?

Take a margherita whose recipe uses 200 g of mozzarella. A kiosk rings it up: as soon as the order is confirmed, 200 g leave the mozzarella stock and the movement is logged with the remaining balance. When mozzarella reaches zero, every dish, size and option that uses it becomes unavailable at the till, on the kiosk, the site, the app, Uber Eats and Deliveroo. Once you restock, they go back on sale by themselves. A cancelled or fully refunded order puts the stock back.

Common questions

Can I just make an item unavailable for tonight, without reconfiguring everything?

Yes. Make an item unavailable for one hour, two hours, until the end of service or until you turn it back on: when the time is up, it comes back on its own.

Does an out-of-stock item apply across every channel at once?

Yes. An out-of-stock item or ingredient becomes unavailable on the POS, the kiosk, the site and the app at the same time, with no manual step.

Do I have to enter a recipe for every dish before this works?

No. Tracking works item by item, with ingredient-level recipes available for anyone who wants to go further and see their food cost.

How is the food cost of a dish worked out?

From its recipe: for each ingredient, the quantity used times its unit cost. The margin shows per size and per option, and a report gives food cost as a percentage of revenue.

Does stock come back when an order is cancelled?

Yes, when the order is cancelled or fully refunded. A partial refund puts nothing back, since the dish was made.
